Lions were high on my list of animals I wanted to see in South Africa. We were lucky enough to see prides with a variety of ages including lionesses, young cubs, juveniles, and even a full grown male lion. Full grown males are ruthless killers. They compete to the death to overthrow prides, eliminate potential future threats, and even kill cubs if they believe they are not their own. It felt so hard to imagine these adorable, fluffy, playful cubs would eventually grow into that, and then I came across this photo of a cub with this devilish look in his eyes, and suddenly it wasn’t so hard to imagine!
