I was lucky enough to go on safari drives at a lodge in South Africa. Initially leopards weren’t top of my list for viewing, but as the week went on, we still had no luck finding a leopard. We started referring to it as the ‘elusive leopard’ because they felt impossible to find. Finally near the end of an evening drive, our guide found a female leopard. Unlike the lions who kept their distance with us, this leopard walked within feet of our vehicle. Seeing a powerful creature like that so close for the first time was a really invigorating moment for me.
